Description
This photo was taken at the National Zoo in DC.
The story behind this photo and these adorable alpacas; one of the zoo staff members was cleaning their area and they thought he had some food for them, which was not the case. At this point, they were just watching him.
This trio of alpacas graze a lot and stare at us viewers.
I have not experienced petting them yet, as they never came close enough for that to happen.
What are their names? From front to back: Ziggy, Orion, and Cirrus.
Definitely stop my the petting zoo if you ever visit the national zoo.

About Alpacas:
About 5,500 years ago, alpacas were domesticated to be a food source. One or two thousand years later, people began using alpacas for other purposes, including wool and transportation. Today they are bred exclusively for wool.
The Inca used alpaca wool for clothing, which kept them warm in cold mountain air, as well as tapestries, rope, twine, and bags. They also used alpacas for food, made blankets from their pelts, and burned their dung as fuel.
Alpacas thrive at high elevations. Their thick wool coats keep them warm, and their extra-large hearts and lungs keep their bodies well-supplied with oxygen in the thin air of their mountain homes.

What a wonderful threesome, Emmy, all posing so beautifully for you! How did you arrange that? f/l
Emmy Vickers replied:
Hi Ann, thanks for the compliment, favor and like, I am honored. I wish I could take credit for the look - but one of the care takers was in there cleaning up after them...and they were looking at him. I just so happen to position myself in the right place to capture their awesomeness! Thanks again for your support.

Thank you so much Caitlyn for the compliment and like, much appreciated. I love this trio - they are so cute, I just wanted to hug them. They didn't get close enough to pet.
