Description
This photo was taken during my 2013 Thanksgiving Holiday vacation in NYC. This famous landmark is absolutely amazing! The Empire State Building (ESB) is awe-inspiring both during the day and at night. The history is rich.
I thought this view was pretty amazing, and not one that is quite as common. At night, there are two different view colorings; one is red/orangy/gold and the other is blue/gold. Both equally beautiful. During the day, still a beautiful landmark. A must-see for everyone that visits NYC.
The Empire State Building (ESB) is a NYC skyscraper that stands at
103-stories high. It was completed in May 1931. ESB is located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street. It was the tallest building in the world up until the completion of the first tower of the Trade Center, which was completed in 1972 in Lower Manhattan.
Standing at 1,472 feet, the official opening of the ESB took place on May 1, 1931, by President Herbert Hoover, who pressed a button in Washington, D.C. to turn on the building's lights.
The exterior of the building is made of Indiana limestone and granite, trimmed with aluminum and chrome-nickel steel from the 6th floor to the top. The interior high lobby ceiling is made of marble imported from France, Italy, Belgium and Germany.
This is a highly recommended must-see landmark for all that visit the Big Apple! Emmy Vickers,
