Green Wall At Longwood Gardens,

Longwood Gardens was voted the number one botanical gardens in the country. I have now been to a few and I can see why.

This part of the gardens is called Green Wall. It is enclosed in glass as you can see. Literally it is a long hallway where the walls are filled with a variety of green plants from top to bottom all the way down the hallway. On a beautiful sunny day this is what it looks like, shadows and all.

A Few Facts I Learned About The Green Wall On My Visit:

-- Green Wall is the largest in North America, with measurements of 14 feet high and 300 feet long, It contains approximately 47,000 plants. This is an amazing and unique exhibit. Absolutely beautiful!

-- Green Wall was designed by British landscape architect Kim Wilkie and was installed at Longwood Gardens in 2010.

-- Green Wall was designed to resemble a lush green jungle which I feel has been accomplished. I almost felt like I was in a rainforest minus the rain.

-- Some of the plants included on the wall are: Philodendron Hederaceum aka Heart-Leaf Philodendron, Cissus Alata aka Grape-Ivy, Adiantum Capillus-Veneris aka Venus' Hair Fern, and Cyrtomium Falcatum aka Japanese Holly Fern. There are several other plants included but I did not write them all down.
