Description
This photo is of the Marine Corps Memorial (aka Iwo Jima Memoria) located in Arlington, VA. The Marine Corps Memorial commemorates all the marines who have died in battle since 1775. Standing at 78 feet tall, this statue is one of the largest bronze statues you will ever see. Felix W. deWeldon is the creator of this phenomenal monument. It was based on Joseph Rosenthal's well known photograph capturing the flag being raised on Mount Suribachi during the World War II battle for Iwo Jima. Very powerful monument. A must see for all that visit the area. See Marine Corps-Iwo Jima Memorial Gallery on my site for more pics. Emmy Vickers,
