A visit to the Smithsonian National Zoo is always fun. As a photographer, I never know what that great photo is going to be. We don't know what animals will be entertaining the onlookers. This day, this beautiful Asian elephant was the entertainer. Then all of a sudden, nature calls. Wow - that's a lot of relief. I don't think this beauty knew he/she was being photographed. Ooops. All of us onlookers were amazed at the amount of urine that was coming out of this beauty. Hey - "peeing" is a part of life. It's part of learning all aspects of an animal. Did you notice, this fella was smiling as well as continuing to eat? So, how much does an elephant pee in one day? Depends upon how much water they drink. On the average, 50 gallons a day. Phew....that's a lot!!
