Description

This is Bozie, the newest elephant at the DC National Zoo. Arrived 6 months ago from Baton Rouge (May 2013 she arrived from Baton Rouge on loan). She is 37 years old. Was born in Sri Lanka and lived at the Elephant Orphanage Department of Wildlife Conservation, until 1976. She has lived at the Lincoln Park Zoo, Henry Vilas Zoo, Dickerson Park Zoo, and the Baton Rouge Zoo.

She was very interesting to watch as she had a nervous habit of continuous moving, swaying, looked like dancing a little bit. One felt for her, we animal-lovers could tell something was a little off and felt sad for her, but happy because she is getting such great care. Zoo staff think it was something from her past and that she was still getting acclimated to her new environment. It made you just want to go down there and giver her a big hug.
