Description
Double Wheel View - Antietam National Battlefield.
The American Civil War Battle of Antietam occurred on September 17, 1862.
I wanted to capture a unique view, so what I did is leaned down between the wheels of two different cannon holders in order to get a glimpse of the famous Maryland Monument.
The Maryland Monument is the only monument at Antietam Battlefield dedicated to both sides (troops who fought at Antietam for both the North and the South). This incredible structure is made of granite and the dome is made of copper. Some of the highlights of this monument is a beautiful statue of an allegorical woman up top, 4 bronze relief sculptures featuring various scenes of the Battle of Antietam, and multiple bronze plaques inside.
When visiting the Antietam National Battlefield, you can find this monument directly across the famous Dunker Church. Emmy Vickers,
