Description
Today, January 8, 2014 was FREEZING! Temperatures in the low twenties. I was hoping to be able to feed the ducks and geese at my favorite spot in Gaithersburg. At first I was really disappointed as I did not see a sign of wildlife anywhere near the "lookout" pier. I walked over the bridge toward the middle of the lake and was still not seeing much signs of life. I began to see a couple of seagulls flying about so I thought I would just throw some cheerios up in the air over the water to grab their attention. Well - it worked. Seagulls were now coming in for an icy landing onto the lake and eating the cheerios and crackers I had for them. It was fun watching them. I eventually saw where the ducks and geese were hanging out. I kept my distance as there were too many and I did not want to cause them fighting as I did not have enough food for everyone.
I was not successful in photographing many great shots, however, I did get a few. Here is one of my favorites for the day. Enjoy! Location is in Gaithersburg, MD at the Washingtonian Center. Emmy Vickers,

Great catch, Emmy. I feel sorry for the little ones in that cold!
Emmy Vickers replied:
Thanks a bunch Clif for the compliment. I know. I will be downloading a few more of the ducks/geese. Poor things. Hundreds of them together trying to keep warm. I guess those that don't migrate, are able to adjust.
