Description
King Vulture I,
Found in the bird section of the Smithsonian National Zoo, this colorful King Vulture was front and center. Maybe he was hungry, that's why he was staring at us on goers.
As you can tell from this scene, the King Vultures are quite colorful and unique looking birds. The King Vulture is also known as Sarcorhamphus Papa. They weigh 6.6 lbs to 8.4 lbs. Their wings span approximately 6 feet. They eat medium size dead animals such as monkeys and sloths. Be sure to stop by the bird section to check this beauty out and all the other birds.
