Description
This very simple looking lighthouse is known as Light 80. This lighthouse is located in Fort Washington National Park in Fort Washington, MD. In full operation today, Light 80 is still operated by the United States Coast Guard. A triangle red marker locates it during the daylight hours while at night, the light still flashes red at six seconds intervals with a visibility of 6 miles. For more detailed amazing history, I encourage you to visit website at: (http://www.nps.gov/fowa/historyculture/light80.htm). emmy vickers,

This definitely does not look like your typical lighthouse. When I was reading the history of the fort and this lighthouse - wow, I was quite enlightened. I only wish we had bright blue skies, but it was March. We were fortunate to at least have a nice warm sunny day. Folks were fishing while others were walking around the fort. A great fort to visit.
