Artist's Description
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial,
This is one of the famous Washington, DC monuments we have the pleasure of visiting.
Dr. King dreamed of a world with equality for all mankind. Today, his dream lives on at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC. Open to the public, this National Mall monument is the fourth to honor a non-president and the first to honor a man of color.
This memorial was designed as a lasting tribute to Dr. King's legacy and will forever serve as a monument to the freedom, opportunity and justice for which he stood.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is a must-see on any trip to the nation's capital. The memorial is situated on a four-acre site along the Tidal Basin, adjacent to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial and sharing a direct line of sight between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.
The centerpiece of the memorial is a 30-foot statue of Dr. King. His likeness is carved into the Stone of Hope, which emerge...

What an incredible tribute to a man that changed the world. Nice up-close head shot Emmy! The detail of the face is astounding! The seriousness look; the eyebrows; the glassy eyes look so real; the moustache, and lips. Wow. Would make a great poster and postcard. Looks like something that would be on the cover of a Travel guide or Landmarks magazine. Added to my favorites. L/F.

An incredible monument honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I stood in front of this statue yesterday in awe of this man and what he has accomplished. He literally changed the course of our nation. And it started with a dream. A definite must-see by all that visit D.C. I was very impressed with the parents talking to their kids about the history. The kids sharing what they know. It was nice being in a very positive and diverse atmosphere. For those that lived through those years, and even for those that have not, it's a very emotional and powerful memorial. I was proud to be able to pay tribute yesterday to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
