Description
Here is the full monumental dedication to an extraordinary man by the name of Raoul Wallenberg. Again, one of those off-the-beaten-path finds in Manhattan (NYC). Raoul Wallenberg was a Swedish diplomat born in 1912 in Budapest, Hungary. He was quite the selfless man. He saved the lives of countless Hungarian Jews, by placing them under the protection of the Swedish Government. Sadly, on January 17, 1945, Raoul was detained and imprisoned by the Soviet Government. So on this monument, dates for his life are shown as 1912-1945. Unfortunately, once captured, they do not know how long he survived. I highly recommend visiting. There are a couple of buildings and statues to see as well. Raoul Wallenberg's memorial is located at FDR Drive North and East 47th Street. It's literally located in the middle isle of the street.
Please feel free to visit the other photo I captured of just his briefcase. It's called "Raoul Wallenberg Dedication - NYC: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/raoul-wallenberg-dedication-nyc-emmy-marie-vickers.html.
