Description
This is Sugarloaf Mountain. Today I took a nice relaxing ride out to Maryland's countryside (10/17/2014). I ended up sightseeing at Sugarloaf Mountain. Here, I came across this beautiful farmhouse with the Sugarloaf Mountains in the background. What an amazing front yard, so beautiful!
Sugarloaf Mountain is a designated Registered Natural Landmark because of its geological interest and striking beauty. Interestingly, funds for maintenance and improvement do not come from federal, state, or municipal sources. They come from a modest trust fund, from membership dues, and from gifts and bequests of folks like you, who are interested in preserving this priceless heritage.
Another fun fact: the dominant tree species on Sugarloaf are the oaks of both red and white groups. Other trees include black gum, tulip poplar, black birch and eastern hemlock.
Mammals & birds who live in this mountain: white tailed deer, red fox, flying squirrel, eastern cottontail and raccoon. The forest birds include wild turkey, the great horned owl, pileated woodpecker, and red shouldered hawk. During the spring and fall, many migratory species of songbirds can be found.
Beware! This is the habitat of the timber rattlesnake and the copperhead as well.

Yes, beautiful scenery - all the more lovely as seen thru your lens, Emmy! Were you riding horseback? L/F
Emmy Marie Vickers replied:
Thank you Clif for the compliment!! No, I was not riding horseback, just nicely surprised to come across the couple of horses I posted the other day. That would have been fun and relaxing though. Thanks for the like and favorite. Always appreciate your thoughts and comments. THANKS!
