Description
This is the "celebrity" Triceratops Dinosaur at the Smithsonian National Zoo in DC. I thought it was a rather cool life-size model of a triceratops dinosaur.
This life-size legend was the star of the 1968 hit "Uncle Beazley." He starred in the movie "The Enormous Egg" which was based upon the great children's book called "The Enormous Egg written by Oliver Butterworth."
In 1994 this huge model was transferred from DC's downtown National Mall to the National Zoo where it stands today.
This was exciting to learn. I was honored to have taken a class by the author of The Enormous Egg, Mr. Oliver Butterworth. As an accelerated English junior in high school, I was accepted by Hartford College for Women to take a couple of classes that would go toward whatever college I chose to go to after high school. Oliver Butterworth was a phenomenal man and a great instructor. He encouraged creativity and helped us through activities to get that creativity to the surface. It was a true blessing and honor. Oliver Butterworth passed on September 17, 1990. If you have never read the book, I recommend reading it, even if you have no youngsters in the house.

Thank you Mariola Bitner for the feature yesterday in your "Our 4-legged Friends" group. Wow - I wasn't quite sure if this great big character would be accepted since it is a statue. Quite the iconic one though. So, thank you for accepting it and featuring it. I am so honored and appreciative! Thanks for all you do! Woo hoo!
