Brookside Gardens is located in Wheaton, Maryland. A great place to visit. Lots of great things to see and experience. Are you a walker and/or nature lover? This is the place to go. Go by yourself, with friends or family.

So, on my nature walk this day, this Monarch beauty flew right in front of me for a free photo opp. How about that? Or was this beauty a reminder of what it stands for - hope, positive transformation and new beginnings. Either way, I was so excited. This beauty brought joy into my life at that moment in time. Within less than 5 minutes of observing, I was able to learn that when it flew away for seconds, it was going to come back to the same area or thereabouts. So much fun to be in the moment with nature. Yes?

This particular butterfly is actually known as a milkweed butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. It is said to be one of the most known butterflies in North America. Guess what? Did you know that the Monarch has several other common names? Yes indeed! Milkweed, wanderer, common tiger, and black veined brown. This is just one of many butterflies you will see when visiting Brookside Gardens. Enjoy! Emmy Vickers,
