This image is so much fun to look at Emmy. I would agree with the cropping suggestions below as well from members of the Photography only group. Take the viewer right in to the boats and discard the background.

i agree with kathi about taking out the water and the motors. but i love the picture!!

Hi everyone from the Photography Only group administered by R. John Ferguson. Thank you all for your wonderful compliments, comments, and recommendations for changes. I will be responding to each of you that left a comment. So if you have noticed I made a few changes to this particular photo scene based on some of your comments. I decided to keep the motors in on this version based on a couple of comments. However, I am adding 2 or 3 additional versions of this photo scene based on all your wonderful recommendations. Once I have completed the changes I will post a thank you on the discussion thread and share the links. Please feel free to comment on each new version to let me know if I was on the right track. Thank you all for expanding my horizons on how to better this photo in hopes for lots of sales. This group ROCKS!! I am having fun returning the favor.

Emmy Vickers replied:

I totally agree with the brightening of the boats and getting rid of some of the shadows. I also changed 2 or 3 of the white boats to different colors. How do you like the top boat with the shades of 3 different colors. I thought that was a cool different look.

Very cool colors and rhythm with the repetitive patterns, I think I agree with Timothy that cropping the motors out unless you tried it and didn't like it. Perhaps punching up the contrast a bit would be great, otherwise, awesome fun composition Emmy! Hope this helps! fl

I love the bright, clear colors. And boats, ahh, they remind me of New England, Maine especially. I used to live in New Hampshire and we visited Maine frequently. When I see art like this, it makes me realize just how much I miss it. I love this.

Great eye for opportunity! The colors are friendly and bright, the composition of shadows and ligh tplay are interesting. Maybe try punching up the vibrancy just a tad... and the contrast a bit too.. just to bring out the tips of the boats in 3D. Fantastic shot!

I like how the boats are symbolic of a pile of fish. Anytime I'm in a boat I would be fishing so this picture speaks to me that way. I can see this in a boys room or at a summer camp. It is hard to tell if the water behind would have been pretty enough to add a bit more of in the picture to add some interest as if the boats are yearning to get in the water. Good job!

Great find - a fun and interesting way to show this pile of boats. The colours and different angles - add interest - and the motors tell a funny story - like they are all on a barge being pushed by 3-4 motors. Excellent work Emmy:)

I think it is ironic that outboard engines show in this paddle-power picture! :)

Interesting shapes, sizes and vibrant colours Emmy. I like it how they are all stacked up side down.

This photo screams "summer camp." I like the fill the frame composition, the color juxtapositions and the well used look of the canoes and kayaks. It would be great in a den or rec room as a large print.

Certainly one alternative crop could eliminate the water and motors but I personally like it the way it is. The only thing I might have done is punch the vibrancy and or saturation a bit and increase the contrast a tad. I would have to see how the photo looked after sliding the shadows slider a bit to the right in Lightroom but I don't see a problem with deeper shadows. I like it!! Tim

Well I didn't even notice the motors until I read other comments, just seen the colors and the fun I could have on one of these :). Great find. v/t

Reminds me of the way seals bunch up on top of each other. :) Good suggestions below; I favor cropping rather than cloning. Could be sharpned a bit, too. l/twt
