Barn Owl Beauty,
The barn owl is one of my favorites. I love it's heart-shaped face and beautiful brown gold color. Did you know that barn owls can be found all around the world with the exception of Antarctica? Do you know why they are called barn owls? Because they actually love living in barns. Barns are quiet, the owls are safe from the weather and predators, and rodents are easily found to eat along with other foods such as insects, bats, small reptiles just to name a few.
This photo was taken at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair August 2023. This beauty is just one of several owls that are exhibited. What's cool, we get to meet a couple of the handlers (rescuers of birds of prey) and actually see the birds close up. So much fun to observe. Emmy Vickers,
