Caribbean Flamingo Beauty,
Don't you just love these spectacularly beautiful Caribbean Flamingos? Due to the bird flue this year, many of the birds are not on exhibit at the various zoos. So needless to say, it was exciting to see these beauties at the Philadelphia Zoo in Pennsylvania. They really brighten up the environment. This flamingo was standing tall and sleeping on and off.

Did you know that the Caribbean flamingos are found on many Caribbean Islands, hence the name. And did you know they can also be seen in the Galapagos Islands, parts of Central America, as well as parts of northeastern South America. I had no idea.

I thought it fascinating to learn about their long beaks; their bills. The curve at the end of their bill allows the flamingos to be able to feed on the bottom of lakes as this is where much of their food lives ... in the mud. Wherever you may spot flamingos ... take the time to observe and enjoy their beauty. Emmy Vickers,
