Giant Panda Tian Tian,
Meet giant panda Tian Tian, the father of the infamous Bao Bao. Tian Tian came to greet the crowd. What a fantastic moment. So much fun watching Tian Tian as he walked down the hill and climbed up into his cave, turned around, and gave us his pose. He literally sat there for a few minutes as all of us on goers oooed and ahhhed at this gorgeous black and white giant panda. It's as if he knew we wanted him to pose so that we could photograph him as he sat looking at us.

Tian Tian was born on August 27, 1997, at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda at the Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province. I am not sure when Tian Tian came to the Smithsonian National Zoo in DC, we sure do love him. And it's great to know that all the Pandas at this zoo are well taken care of. Their main focus is keeping them healthy and from becoming extinct. The Pandas are awesome to observe. Emmy Vickers,
