Description
Whooping Crane Beauty Talking,
This beautiful whooping crane (aja Grus Americana) was quite friendly, it came to the fence as if to say hello to me. Where was this crane? At the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC.
Whooping cranes are what we call migratory birds which means they live in two different locations. In the summer they live in one place and they migrate to another place for the winter. Did you know that Cranes migrate by day, following landmarks they have memorized? How cool is that!!
What do Whooping Cranes like to eat? Shrimp, crabs, other aquatic animals and plants, berries, and crop grains.
A must see if you visit the Smithsonian National Zoo in DC. They are located past the elephants, over the bridge and in the bird section of the zoo. They are not in the bird house, you can actually find them outside. Emmy Vickers,
