Description
Canons At Fort McHenry. From Fort McHenry, the Baltimore Harbor was successfully defended against the British Navy in the War of 1812.
Did you know that the brave defense of the fort inspired Francis Scott Key (poet-lawyer) to write "The Star-Spangled Banner" which became the United State's National Anthem? Initially it was called "Defense of Fort McHenry."
Oh my, there is so much amazing history at the Fort McHenry National Monument. A must see for anyone visiting the Baltimore, MD area. Visit on a nice warm sunny day, you can have a picnic on the grounds near the water. Also take the time to watch the film that gives you some amazing history. I guarantee you will leave different than when you arrived. Emmy Vickers,
